Building Your Beauty Confidence Feel Great about Yourself with These Tips for an Instant Self-Esteem
If you read our last post, you’ll know that we’re devoting the month of October to ways we can all build our self-esteem. It’s a subject that’s especially important right now after most of us have spent months stuck in our homes, unable to go to the gym, have our hair done by our favorite stylist, or relax with a facial and massage.
In short, months of lockdown have meant giving up our favorite beauty rituals, which has left many of us feeling less confident in our own skin than ever before.
Luckily, even if you live in an area where beauty businesses are still shuttered, there are a number of easy ways that you can build your beauty confidence and feel great about yourself every time you look in the mirror.

#1 – Shoulders back
Remember how your mom always said to sit up straight?
Well, she was onto something.
Your posture doesn’t only affect the health of your spine and determine how much back pain you live with, it also changes the way you view yourself.
When you slump, the message your body is sending your brain is that you don’t feel good about yourself. So try sitting and standing tall, with your shoulders back.
Not only can this help you look taller and slimmer, it can help you feel more self-assured.
#2 – What do you like about yourself
Next, it’s important to remember that for each of us, it’s very easy to fixate on the things we dislike about ourselves. Whether you wish your cheekbones were more sculpted, hate the size of your nose, or feel like your lips are too thin, when it comes to seeing ourselves in the mirror, negatives tend to stand out far more than the positives.
But, they don’t have to.
Pick out something you love about yourself. Maybe it’s your smooth, glowing skin. It could be the perfect arch of your eyebrows, or the shining, curly hair everyone always compliments about you.
Whatever feature you love, begin training yourself to look at it first when you step in front of a mirror. This helps to remind you that you are beautiful, unique, and totally amazing just as you are.
#3 – Rock your color
Each of us has certain shades that look amazing on us. They’re ones that go perfectly with our skin tone, bring out our eyes, and have people telling us how great we look.
So, why not put your color to work for you?
If you look sensational in an icy blue, go for it! If autumn shades make you look like a million bucks, wear them more often.
And remember, you don’t have to go for an all-over look. You can even simply incorporate a pop of color in a scarf or necklace.
#4 – Lighting check
Finally, although most of us never even consider it, the lighting above your bathroom can play a big role in how you view yourself. While lights that feature yellow tones can make your skin look sallow and play up fine lines, switching to bulbs with clean, white light is very flattering.
We all get down on ourselves from time to time – something that is especially easy during times of stress, which the last few months have had plenty of to go around. But with these tips, it’s easier to remember to give yourself a little grace and love yourself just as you are.
