While some areas of the country are opening up, many areas are still facing lockdowns making it impossible to get to your favorite spa and enjoy a relaxing facial. Even if your esthetician is open, you may not feel comfortable getting out just yet with the pandemic numbers still on the rise.
That’s why we’re taking you through how to care for your skin with your very own at home facial so that you can look flawless, revitalized and radiant.
#1 – Remove makeup & cleanse
A facial means starting with a blank palette so the makeup (if you’ve been wearing it while stuck at home) has to come off! Since summer often means waterproof makeup as well as sunscreen, we recommend making this step a double cleanse.
Start with an oil or lotion based cleanser like our Young & Pure Botanical Cleansing Lotion and follow with a water-based option like our Miracles & More Chamomile Face Wash with its Acne-Stop Gel.
For an extra deep cleanse you can add in a battery-powered cleansing brush, moving gently over your forehead, nose, chin, and cheeks to work the cleansers into your skin.
#2 – Steam
Steaming your face helps to loosen oil plugs, dirt, and oils so that the next steps of your facial can deliver even more visible results. Although you can pick up an affordable, spa-like steamer, you can also simply warm water in a microwave bowl until steaming. Just make sure to handle with care and keep your face at least six inches away from the bowl.
#3 – Exfoliate
The next step in your DIY facial is to whisk away the dead surface skin cells that dull your skin to reveal a brighter, more vibrant complexion. We love our 3 in 1 Exfoliate, with its triple action that deeply cleanses, exfoliates and peels, and balances skin oils all in one use.
#4 – Mask
After exfoliation, it’s time to apply a mask to fully open pores and prepare your skin to receive the actives in the next steps. We recommend using a mask like our Mineral Mud Detoxifying Mask, with its incredible mix of pure arctic mineral mud, containing no fillers. This targeted toning mask detoxifies skin, leaving a baby smooth feel, while pulling out impurities.
#5 – Tone
Once you have rinsed your mud mask, spritz a cotton ball or round with a gentle botanical toner and sweep across your face to remove the last traces of the mask, tighten pores, and hydrate your skin.
Our Miracles & More Face Toner is one of our best sellers and is infused with aloe vera, chamomile and Japanese green tea to rejuvenate the skin and cucumber extract and minerals to help tighten pores and firm skin.
#6 – Treat
Next, apply serums that address your specific skincare concerns. For example, if you want to banish those crow’s feet or fine lines, our Miracle Face & Eye Serum can help you achieve your goals.
If deep wrinkles and skin aging are a concern, try our Anti-Wrinkle Extra Strong Serum.
#7 – Use eye cream
Once your serum is absorbed, softly dab your favorite eye cream on, sweeping it under your eyes as well as your brow bone, as wells as along your inner eye next to your nose.
We love our Active Cream, a tightening cream that applies like silk and combats those fine lines.
#8 – Moisturize
The final step in your at home facial is to hydrate your skin with the moisturizer of your choice to add actives and replenish your skin.
Once again, you’ll want to choose your moisturizer based on your skin’s specific needs. If you’re living with dehydration that’s aging your skin, we recommend our Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizer. For skin that is starting to lose its elasticity and showing a buildup of crow’s feet and expression lines, our Collagen Plus Cream is the perfect pick.
#9 – Enjoy!
Now, just sit back, relax and love your miraculously beautiful skin!
Just because lockdown may still be in effect, doesn’t mean you can’t look your best.
